I read his autobiography when I was a kid, and must have been just a middle age man. He was so talented and funny. One of the great talents. If you can read his works, do !

A brilliant and brilliantly funny man. He was utterly right. Americans are indeed getting demonstrably dumber and it’s only gotten worse since this was taped in 2000.

I was privileged to attend a taping of one of his shows on Vine St. studio in Hollywood in the 60’s. He was so down to earth and kind even when the cameras were not on. He treated the audience like guests in his home. A dear and lovable genius.

I love Steve Allen. His show Meeting of Minds was so informative and entertaining. His book Dumbeth could be a testament to where we are today.

This man was a genius. About the only one who followed him on The Tonight Show that approached his talent was Johnny Carson. Jack Paar was good, Leno’s ok, but Conan’s nowhere near Allen or the others.
